My girlfriend Kim and I were driving back to my condo downtown from south Calgary and the entire sky was being lit up in every direction. As soon as we got to my condo in Eau Claire, we set up my camera on the balcony and started taking long exposures. The sky continuously lit up around us, but visible bolts of lightning were more infrequent. This photo, showing a huge lighting bolt cracking over buildings downtown, is the result of perfect timing by both of us. I had opened the camera shutter, and Kim closed it. We both yelped with joy as soon as we checked the image on the camera’s LCD. Needless to say, we both love thunderstorms and were pretty exciting to capture this. Not bad for our first time photographing lightning.
